AZTI will take part in the LIFE Ecocitric International Congress on 16 and 17 November in Vall d’Uixó (Castellón) to present the Life GISWASTE project. The congress, led by the LIFE Ecocitric project, aims to present best practices in agriculture and to create a network of contacts that promotes the reuse of by-products.
LIFE Ecocitric demonstrates the technical, economic and environmental viability of a new system for the integral use of matter produced after pruning citrus trees, which can be used to produce innovative by-products such as essential oils, fertiliser, animal feed and biomass.

The Life GISWASTE partners will review the progress and results achieved so far and will define the actions to take place during the final stage of the project.

The Geograma team will be taking part in the FMEdays 2016, the largest meeting of FME users (FME – tool to integrate, process and quality control of geospatial information) in Europe. During the conference, which will be held from 13 to 17 June in Essen (Germany), Geograma will explain the process to determine the factors to create Life GISWASTE, along with its development and future expectations regarding the project.

AZTI-Tecnalia will be taking part in the 4th International Conference on Sustainable Solid Waste Management in Limassol (Cyprus) from 23 to 25 June. The Life GISWASTE project will contribute to the content regarding socio-economic aspects related to treating solid waste, decision-making support tools in the field of waste recovery and the use of by-products to create energy, among other purposes.

From 23 to 26 May, AZTI-Tecnalia will be at the WastEng Conference, where aspects of the circular economy will be discussed, and it will present projects on technologies, processes and best practices that help to cut CO2 emissions.

From 25 to 28 May, AZTI-Tecnalia will be at ORBIT 2016, a European event where the future of the circular economy and the management of organic waste will be discussed, in line with the new strategy of the European Commission.

The AZTI-Tecnalia team will be taking part in the PPI4Waste International Workshop on Innovative Waste Management Solutions, organised as part of the 8th European Conference on Sustainable Cities & Towns. During the session, the Life GISWASTE project will be presented to public contractors, suppliers and consultants in the field of waste management from all over Europe.
AZTI-Tecnalia will be at NutriForum, the flagship gathering of the animal feed sector, to be held at La Llotja Conference Centre (Lleida) on 3 and 4 March. AZTI will showcase the Life GISWASTE tool to nutrition specialists, feed manufacturers, technicians and companies offering formulation services, and consultants and professionals interested in animal feed and nutrition.

The LIFE GISWASTE project has convened the private and public stakeholders of the Basque Country’s farming and livestock sector to present the first version of the GIS tool for decision making in waste recovery and note their contributions to implement them in the final version of the tool.The session will be held in the auditorium of the Ihobe offices, the publicly-owned company that is partner of the project, in Plaza Bizkaia in Bilbao at 10.00 a.m. on 22 January.

On Friday 15 January AZTI-Tecnalia will attend the “Advancing towards a Circular Economy" event organised by ACLIMA (the Basque Cluster of Environmental Industries) at the Kursaal Conference Centre. The event will highlight the circular economy initiatives underway in the Basque Autonomous Community (BAC), along with the New Circular Economy of the European Commission (H2020) regarding waste management.
