Technical workshops
Technical staff from the GISWASTE partners - AZTI and LK - held several meetings in October, November and December in order to validate the development of the GIS tool on which they are working. The meetings were opportunities to discuss the results obtained during the animal feed and biogas plant pilot schemes conducted by LKS using the tool. These meetings are proving to be effective to advance towards the final validation of the GIS and fine tune its potential and scope.
AZTI and LKS met on 30 August to continue with the B4 task to validate the tool, contrasting the results obtained by the draft project of the biogas plant written by LKS. Likewise, the progress made in the writing of the draft project for the meal production plant for animal feed was dealt.

AZTI and GEOGRAMA technicians held a meeting to continue with the Sharepoint development. The focus was on user opening to enter the GISWASTE project data, along with their adaptation and updating by AZTI technicians.
Location: Headquarters of LKS in Derio, Biscay
AZTI and GEOGRAMA technicians held a technical meeting at the LKS offices located in the Bizkaia Technology Park (Derio) in order to launch the B4 task, the validation of the tool. During the meeting, they discussed the first steps to be taken to conduct the environmental and economic-technical surveys for 2 unconstructed plant proposals (one for biogas and another for animal feed) in order to subsequently validate the goodness of the tool.
Location: Headquarters of LKS in Derio, Biscay
AZTI and GEOGRAMA technicians held a videoconference when the Geograma technicians showed the latest advances in the developments to load the information. The meeting focused on an exhaustive explanation of how the data is loaded, along with how to create scenarios to be assessed by the tool. The meeting ended with a small demonstration simulating a scenario to see the application potential of those developments for the future of the tool.

Geograma, LKS and AZTI-Tencalia technical communication meeting to review the project status regarding the timeline and the immediate milestones to be addressed; to identify, define and agree the location of tool and the programming methodology and language to be used to develop it; as well as to discuss the communication needs of the project.
Location: Ihobe offices in Bilbao
Communication activities coordination meeting, when the participants discussed how to improve dissemination regarding attendance at international conferences and fairs, and how to identify the technical journals interested in disseminating our project. They also considered the possibility of set up a web domain with the databases, along with the pilot versions of the tool being developed. They also suggested other possible dissemination and communication actions for the project.
Location: Headquarters of Geograma in Vitoria-Gasteiz
AZTI, Geograma and LKS technicians presented the latest technical advances in the B2 and B3 actions. They also reviewed and amended the list of risks and the mitigation actions, along with the project management plan. They ended by outlining the tasks to be implemented as part of the project in order to meet the targets set for 2015.

Technical progress meeting of the B2 and B3 Actions of the Life GISWASTE project with the participation of Geograma and AZTI-Tecnalia technicians. The multi-criterion decision methodology, the different existing methods and the opportunities they offer were discussed in order to select the method that best adjusts to the project goals. Progress was in turn made regarding defining the operational framework in which to break down the different operations that the tool will have to follow to guarantee the correct assessment.
