Follow-up meetings

ReunionLocation: AZTI Derio

On 23 May, the fourth and last monitoring meeting of the LIFE GISWASTE project was held at the AZTI (Derio) premises, nearly 4 years after the project got underway. The meeting was attended by the member of the monitoring team representing the European Commission, along with the partner companies of the consortium. The purpose of the meeting was for the European Commission to be able to assess the technical aspects and financial status of the project, along with advising social entities on administrative aspects regarding the winding-up of the project scheduled for this June. The delegates had the opportunity to see for themselves the tool developed in the project.

Location: AZTI, LKS and IHOBE offices

During January and April 2017, all the GISWASTE project partners held different technical meetings in order to achieve the last objectives of the project that is scheduled to end on 30 June 2017. During the meetings, the participants could examined the results after the final calibrations of the tools with the animal feed and anaerobic digestion plant blueprints produced by LKS. These meetings are proving to be effective to advance towards the final validation of the GIS tool and fine tune its potential and scope.

GISWASTE ends 2016 by reviewing the progress and improvements achieved in its tool

Venue: AZTI offices (Derio)

The fourth and last annual monitoring meeting for the LIFE GISWASTE project was held on 9 October 2016.  During the meeting, all the partner entities reported on the advances and improvement introduced in the tool from its initial definition, along with the possible expansion of features in the future, thanks to the flexibility of the tool to add new internal information packages.

The aim of the project, funded by the EU LIFE 2013 call, has been to develop a computer tool based on GIS (Geographic Information System), which assesses the environmental, economic and technical viability of the recovery options, either regarding the production of animal feed or of biogas using agri-feed by-products in the Basque Autonomous Community.

AZTI, as a technology centre, has been tasked with coordinating the project, along with developing certain technical tasks. Alongside AZTI, Geograma,  a leading company in capturing, supplying processing and managing Geo-Information, and LKS Engineering, a civil engineering consultant, are taking part in the project alongside AZTI. Finally, Ihobe, as the Basque Government’s Environmental Management Agency, is tasked with disseminating the project.
